Witt Lowry's new single- a message of hope to fans

Witt Lowry released his new music video for the single Dreaming with our Eyes Open today from his album of the same name. The track and video are raw, a refreshing offering of sincerity in an industry where perfection and image too often come before artistic truth. Lowry shows his vulnerability and consciousness as an artist on this track, speaking directly to his fans without facade.

The backing track is subtle, the keys and slow rises of the melody perfectly fit with the tone of his bars and create something subtly powerful- reaching a crescendo that matches the epicness of his past hit Kindest Regards. The bars on this tune show evolution, Lowry reflects on himself as a performer with brutal honesty. At points his voice strains with emotion and you can feel his sincerity and devotion to his fans when he speaks of the letters he recieves:

 "None of you see all the letters I get from these kids who hurt from within and don't wanna live/ And tell me my music is all that can give them hope"

Which is true, take a brief look at his twitter feed and you'll see how strongly Lowry's music resonates with people. I believe this is because he speaks about these human issues without fronting, he talks about bills, broken hearts, making mistakes and wanting the best for those you love without cliche but instead effortless realism. There is no caricature, when Witt talks you feel as though it is from the heart, which is why his words speak to his fans new and old so powerfully.

What impresses me the most about this track is that Witt can encapsulate the sense of hopelessness felt (especially by the young) in a world with fewer support mechanisms and greater expectations, while also holding onto the belief and truth that things can always improve and change for the better. A truth we all need reminding of.
