People Just Do Nothing manages to turn nothing into comedy gold!

Having just finished it's third season People Just Do Nothing is a British comedy that manages through complete absurdity and very Brit tongue-in-cheek humour to encapsulate the hopeless, hillarious zeitgeist of our times. A mockumentary following the lives of a crew running an illegal Garage radio station on an estate in London it is suprising in both it's laugh out loud humour and gentle portrayals of it's characters. They may be caricatures but each has a well rounded personality and the sense that you know them or someone very much like them. Despite being set in London anyone who lives in a large town or city will recognise the chaotic lives of the show. Broke, hapless and living for a weekend they can't afford Grindah and his crew feel unique largely because they are, the friends started making satirical videoes on youtube out of boredom when some bright spark at the BBC saw their potential.

The head of the station, MC Grindah is the perfect distillation of false confidence, despite the rubbish that he chats the accompanying pained glance or side eye can transform a moronic statement into something truly telling. My favourite character is Steves simply because I don't think there has been such a great slapstick actor in a long time, mind burnt out on a mix of his Nan's prescriptions and whatever the gang give him to keep going, he is one of the main reasons  I kept coming back to the show.

Chabuddy G is a modern tragic hero, reaching for success but inherently incapable of achieving it. While Beats and Decoy are just two normal blokes trying to balance their not-so-gangster underworld lives with the domestic happiness they both crave. Meanwhile the long suffering girlfriends are excellent in their dead pan delivery to questions about their respective partners. In all what makes People Just Do Nothing great is it's autheticity and lack of pretention, by not trying to be clever they are perhaps the cleverest comedians on telly at the moment.

You can currently catch the whole three seasons on BBC iplayer and to be honest it's probably the best thing on there!
