Interview w/emerging Aussie folk rockers Observer Effect

Having released two polished, highly lyrical and attention grabbing singles- The Philosopher and The Shelf, I decided to try and find out a little more about this mysterious Brisbane based band, where they came from and where they had set their course for. With light yet intricate melodies and a unique sound this is one band I'll be keeping an eye on!
Interview:
How
did you guys decide to form a band?
Well, I (Oliver - band founder) put a lot of ads online over a long period of time and met lots of great musicians. The guys who ended up in the first incarnation of the band were the ones that I clicked with most.
Your
singles are very lyrical, do you work on the lyrics together or does one member
drive the writing process?
I
write all the songs myself. In fact, there's a whole album (and some) waiting
to be recorded, harmonies and all. Recording is not a quick process though.
Lyrics are huge for me. I can't take a song seriously if the lyrics don't
impact me. Equally, a great turn of phrase often hits me more deeply than a
great hook.
If
you could collaborate with any musician- living or dead- who would it be?
Love this question. I'm going to go wild here and say that I'd love to have Mozart arrange a string section to go with our songs. More recently, I think sitting down to write lyrics with Leonard Cohen would have been an experience and a half, what a poet that man was.
What
projects have you got on the horizon?
Observer Effect had its first incarnation which resulted in the two current singles being recorded and released. After that, the band members unfortunately dispersed to other projects. In 2018, I will be reforming the band, probably with new members. Then we'll continue to record the rest of the first album and start gigging asap.
